Last week it was back to school for us! We spent the day working with the brilliant cohort of Innovation Design Engineering (MA/MSc) at the Royal College of Art discussing the REUSE and PREVENTION of textile waste.
Here are some of the highlights that came out of the workshop:
· Streamlining the use of textile off-cuts through computer-aided waste management
· Pyrolysis vs incineration
· Creation of consumer market place for deadstock
· Feedstock for anaerobic digestion
· Policy based approaches to control waste streams – tax incentives
· Turning cellulosic fibre waste into alcohol
Thank you Delfina Fantini van Ditmar for inviting us and also to Björn Sommer and Dr. Fernando Galdon for the inspiring conversations in-between!
