Circular Bio-based Europe Joint Undertaking 2026

two lives on tour in Brussels at the Circular Bio-based Europe Joint Undertaking Stakeholder Forum 2026 CBESF2026

Yesterday, policymakers, industry leaders and innovators gathered to talk about how Europe can actually strengthen its industrial edge in the bioeconomy — not just in theory, but in practice — and finally move beyond slow, fragmented progress on scaling biobased innovations.

The real question is whether this conversation will lead to action, or just more consensus without momentum.

The programme confronted some long-standing bottlenecks:
·     Why do so many bio-based technologies stall between the lab and real industrial deployment?
·     What’s really holding back investment in first-of-a-kind plants — risk, regulation, or lack of political will?
·     And how can Europe move past pilot projects to create actual markets for these solutions, instead of relying on subsidies and short-term support?

We had a fantastic day together with Liliana Almeida and Nuno Ribeiro networking and gathering insights & inspiration for our ongoing R&D projects.

Great to hear from speakers such as Nicoló Giacomuzzi-Moore, Harald Dialer, Sophie Roelants, Nicolas Sordet, Antonio Delgado-Romero, Mary Maxon, Tom van Aken
